Monsieur Periné is the Grammy Award-winning duo of Catalina García and Santiago Prieto — born and raised in Colombia. Together, and accompanied by a great band (Darwin Páez on drums, Miguel Guerra on percussion, Abstin Caviedes and Jairo A. Barrera on horns and Eva Peroni on bass), the pair has crossed the world to reach the most diverse, eccentric and eloquent stages, playing at the Rock in Rio festivals, Lollapalooza Chicago and Chile, Austin City Limits in Austin Texas, Bonnaroo, Fusion Festival Berlin, Gurten Festival Switzerland, Monterey Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and many more.
The band's riveting Afro-Colombian sound, infused with a broad array of Latin & European influences, places Monsieur Periné in a musical category that is completely their own. The group received their first Latin Grammy in 2015 in the "Best New Artist" category and we have had Latin Grammy nominations for "Album of the Year" (2015 and 2018) "Record of the Year" (2018) and "Song of the Year" (2018) and at the Grammy Awards for "Best Latin, Urban or Alternative Rock Album" (2016) (2019) since.
Alongside captivating vocal performances from Catalina García, Santiago Prieto is the instrumentalist backbone of the their award-winning sound. In addition to mastering the charango, guitar, and violin, Santiago discovered Kala's unique 8-String Baritone and adopted the instrument into the Monsieur Periné live performance & studio arsenal. With it's mellow character and standout harmonics, the 8-String Baritone has gradually moved more and more to the forefront of Santiago's songwriting and performances.
