Spalted Maple Cajon

The Kala spalted maple cajon is a well made and attractive instrument. I'm finding the snare strings to overpower the richer wood-thumping rhythm tones, so I have found myself stuffing deadening material behind the guitar strings inside the cajon to reduce their contribution to the overall sound. Sure would be nice if there was an easier way to dial-in the desired tone, but overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I was hoping for more variation in tonal sounds, Seems either the rather harsh front or the good sounding body but not many options for high and low notes.

If the wire set up was of two different sizes that would provide some options - a sharper cutting side and a lower, thunkier base side.

I tested every cajon in my local music store before picking this one. It was easily the best sounding cajon in the store. As people mentioned in other reviews, one of the strings got a bit buzzy after playing it for a few weeks. I added a piece of tape on the string where it was buzzing, and it is back to sounding perfect again. Thanks Kala for making a great instrument.

It is a good instrument, I am satisfied with its sound. It is also a very beautiful looking instrument.
