I own two of these... affordable, safe protection
I bought two cases, one for both of my instruments, as I find the shipping storage bag from Kala only useful as a dust jacket.
These are beefy enough to protect your instrument safely, while still being very affordable for a hard case. If you travel with your instrument (planes, camping, to friends houses!), then you would do well upgrading to a better case.
Pros:
-very protective
-lightweight
-plush interior keeps your baby safe from scratches or dings; moveable neck pad 'locks' instrument in place so it doesn't jiggle or bump
-substantial box inside to hold picks, capo, tuner, extra strings, or what have you
-double sided zipper makes it fast and easy to open the woven nylon cover on the outside of the case, allowing access to the padded inside
-comfortable, molded hand grip for side carrying
-two adjustable and removable straps for shoulder carrying or wearing backpack style
-strap rings allow the straps to be worn on the side or on the back of the case
-protective cover flap that velcroes over the zipper pulls on the outside cover to keep them from sliding
-good sized outside pocket that zips. On the soprano size, it can hold sheet music and is *just* big enough to squeeze in a standard size music book (8.5" x 11"). On the tenor size it's plenty big enough to hold several music books (handles things up to 9.5" x 11.5").
Cons:
-Not waterproof *
-no plastic or rubber 'feet' on the bottom of the case, so it sits directly on the floor or table, making it more likely…
