Port Orford Cedar grows along streams in the valleys of the Klamath Mountains. Port Orford Cedar is pale in comparison to other cedars, with a fine, tight grain, making it strong and lightweight with excellent tonal qualities — a preferred wood for stringed instruments. Our Port Orford Cedar Top Elite comes with Hawaiian Koa back and sides in a satin finish, specially combined to create a ukulele that sounds bright and is also simple and elegant in style.

Comes equipped with Kala custom chrome tuners with black buttons and Kala Elite Brown Fluorocarbon Strings by Worth with Low G. Each model comes in a Kala Elite Archtop Hard Case with a plush interior and includes a D’Addario® Humidifier Pro. Preferred by professional musicians, the tenor adds a warmth and depth to the classic ukulele sound.

Amazing

I was a little nervous ordering this ukulele online without playing it but it was totally worth it! This uke sounds beautiful, loud, bright and has a wholesome tone to it, not to mention it is absolutely gorgeous! The shipping was really fast and it came in a beautiful Kala elite hard case. I would definitely recommend this product!

the river runs through it

My wife has admired this instrument since she first saw and heard it online the other year, but she just wasn't exactly sure that she had a place for it in the chorus of her stringed instruments. She simply didn't know what it would add that she didn't already have, and she has some terrific 'ukuleles, let me tell you. Finally, she decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot. Boy, was that a terrific decision. She has nicknamed it River, partly because Port Orford cedar grows along the Klamath River, but also because the music simply flows from it like a river. It sounds and feels smooth, deep, and resonant. She hasn't had it long, but she has already started playing with different sounds and progressions. That process started with her very first session, and it hasn't abated. This instrument is a wonder.

Beyond any expectations

It is clear from the photos that this is a beautiful instrument. The case is also attractive. But the sound is where this marvel really excels. Bell like clarity, projection, sustain like I can’t believe, I honestly don’t know how to adequately describe it. I hate putting it down! It appealed to me with a sense of home. I love the Rogue Valley just south of Port Orford having spent many summers there, and I live close to Petaluma. My intent was a solid koa, but I absolutely haven’t the slightest regret with my change of mind. Innovation and master craftsmanship have proven themselves here. Thanks, whoever made this!

A great instrument!

The Port Orford Cedar tenor is a special instrument to play. It has dynamic range and clarity. There is also a warmth to the sound without being too boomy. Also had never tried the Worth strings that came on it - nice sound and feel and also appreciate the wound low G for this uke. Thanks Kala - you nailed it!
