This U-BASS looks great and sounds great. The round wound strings are something new to me but they are easy to play. The only unexpected issue was that it was so heavy compared to the acoustic/electric U-BASS I started with. The Kala U-BASS strap is an essential accessory.

Great little bass and great sound

I am so pleased with my new purchase. This is my third Ubass and it is certainly the best one for me. The sound is impressive. My great musician friends are all impressed and pleased with the sound. It plays easily and has good intonation up the neck. It's a little challenging to get it in perfect tune, but no one notices and it doesn't sound out of tune in an ensemble.

A good friend of mine owns several acoustic u-bass models, and after trying them out I was not really moved to own one. When he got the solid body u-bass, I was very impressed by how good it sounds, and how well it plays (and it looks really cool, too). Obviously, it does not sound like a ukulele, but in the context of a ukulele group, it doesn’t need to, IMO. I am a guitarist by trade, and the 23.5-inch scale is remarkably comfortable to play compared to a full size or even a 3/4 size bass guitar, and to me it sounds every bit as good. I keep it handy in my home studio for adding bass to demos and other projects, and I would not hesitate to use it on a gig. Flat wound strings work really well on this bass, too. Kudos, Kala, you really nailed it with this one!
