The bass plays remarkably well in spite of a very high action and no real way to lower the action. Flat wound string make the bass sound very much like a standup bass, round wound strings can have a lot of finger noise, my preference is flat wound. Playing through a markbass rig with a 500w vintage head.

I do think all bass players need one in their quiver. If only for the convenience of playing on the couch.
It sounds incredibly good plugged in on a gig. And soo small, you will get a lot of double looks while playing. The sound and small size is so incomprehensible!
The Journeyman came with steel round wounds, which I think is an improvement over the rubber type of strings. But I an a Flatwound player. So I ordered the Aguila thunderbrowns and Gallistrings flatwounds.
The thunderbrowns were still a “rubber” type of strings. So after a couple of weeks I took them off and put on the Gallistrings flatwounds. Now I’m in my comfort zone!
The onboard electronics are very easy to use. Volume, treble, mid, and bass. And a tuner! All a bass player needs!

What a shocking surprise!
I was looking for something to give the close resemblance in sound to an upright bass and this little bass is very close.

I am Loving my new Journeyman Ubass! The craftsmanship and detail on this instrument is great! I love the look of the F-holes. This is my second Ubass. I also have the Bakithi Signature model. I’ll be putting on a set of Aquilla Thunderbrown strings on the Journeyman. What a versatile little instrument with a big sound! The hardshell case is a great value too!
