    A Dream U.Bass!

I have been playing this U Bass at my ukulele club and at open mic performances since I purchased it directly from Kala and I absolutely love it! I had been playing the solid body U Bass this past year and really liked it. But after 90 minutes of playing at my club my neck and back was feeling the weight. So, I decided to add to my collection with this beauty. The sound of this solid top instrument is loud and full without using my amp, so I get a lot more practice in because I can play it unplugged. It's so light that after hours of playing, I feel ready for more. When I do use an amp, the sound is, as my club members put it, a pleasant growling sound. I've done a few open mics with this bass and cannot stress enough how satisfying it is to play onstage. It is definitely a crowd pleaser. Most of the stages we perform on are small and cramped, so its small size compared to a full-scale bass is a big plus for me. I was intending on switching to flat wound strings, as I did with my solid body, but the round wounds it comes with are perfect match, so I will leave it that way. The attention to detail in this instrument is as high as I've seen. As always, this Kala has no blemishes or mistakes. The Koa wood is stunning and delivers a warm clear sound with incredible sustain. And that sound will only improve with age unlike solid body and laminate top basses. Is it worth it? In my opinion; YES!!!
