Hello from germany!
About a month ago I purchased this 5-string beauty and I really LOVE it!
I had owned one of the older KALA Sub solidbodies and the new modell is a BIG BIG improvement!
It arrived in a nicely padded gig-bag, was well "factory set up", I only lowered the action a bit.
After some minutes of playing I totally fell in love with it and I now use it as my main bass in my two bands (rock-cover and reggae). Together with the "tank of multiple basseffects", a ZOOM B3, I can cover all of my musical needs and all of my band members love the sound, too.
Little con:
The B-string is way too slinky and so is its sound, it should be at least a 125 gauge.
I already contacted KALA and the MIGHT produce a thicker B-string some day in the future...
Nevertheless I give it 5 stars!
P.S.
I'm 68 now and my neck and back highly appreciate the small weight of about 2.5 kilograms.
And my wallet loved the very small price.

I am really pleased with my 5-string. It looks and plays great. Pleased with the after sales when I contacted Kala about a screw which needed tightening. It 's also good to receive a quality gig-bag also.

The bass is small for a five-string, hence good for travel. It sounds full-scale for its size and has a decent B string that is not a thud. The string spacing is narrower than most basses I have played and sometimes I grapple with complex material, especially if I do not use the B string. However, I still have my Rumbler from 2014 when I need only four strings. Kala did a grand job getting playable sonics from a downsized 5-string instrument with a punchy moderate-output passive magnetic pickup. Without comparison the 5-string solid body is a clear winner. Nevertheless, compared to some of the larger basses, the Kala has somewhat less definition and a hint of mud.

I love it ! Plays just like any other bass I have. It is very well made and I say if there are anyone out there that’s interested and thinking about getting one, I suggest u get one before they are out of stock. Been waiting on this one for a couple years It’s AWESOME 👏‼️😎
