Kala Ambassador

Hi, my name is Bryce Wettstein, I’m a professional Olympian and X Games skateboarder and musician, and I love getting to express myself by writing, playing music, and skating. I found my first ukulele when I was 13, and being able to do both music and skateboarding really helped me to build a lot of my courage, soul, and sense of self.
One of my favorite things ever is writing music. During skate competitions, and especially during the Olympics or other big events, the emotion and constant roller coasters of feelings inspire a lot of songs.
Finding inspiration in everything can come naturally when there are pockets of joy everywhere. For example, one of the songs I've written, called “Perfect Moment,” is about how every moment has a little bit of perfect in it, even if there’s imperfection. That’s where the good stuff is!
I’m so thankful for Kala, it even sounds a little like California, where I’ve lived my whole life for 22 years :)

Ukulele Philosophy

One of the most important things i've discovered is that sometimes music plays you more than you play it! Same with skateboarding, it's all about letting the things you love guide you!

Tip for Beginners

Go at your own pace and rhythm. Be brave and be yourself! The best thing is, the more you bring the ukulele with you, and give it life, the more life it gives you!
