Kala Ambassador - Ray Banks

Aloha and nice to meet you! I’m Ray from Ray’s Ukulele. I fell in love with the ukulele while working as a tour guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center in La’ie, Hawaii. I played my ukulele while showing tour groups around and had a lot of fun jammin’ and learning new songs from other guides. Eventually, I had friends who wanted to learn the ukulele, so I decided to make some videos to help them out. From there, I started my YouTube channel, and I've had lots of fun sharing the joy of learning the ukulele with everyone. I am currently based in Sweden with my wife and two young sons, whom you might notice sometimes appearing in my videos as guests of honor. Every night, we sing together before bed, usually with my ukulele accompaniment, and sometimes my boys play along with their small ukuleles.

Ukulele Philosophy
I once went to a fancy wedding on a golf course where a string quartet was playing. Uncle Joe was there. At some point, he took off his jacket to reveal an aloha shirt, pulled a ukulele out of nowhere, and started singing! It was amazing. My ukulele philosophy is that you should play and spread aloha everywhere.
Tip for Beginners
The ukulele is by nature fun, laid-back, and forgiving. So, I recommend you just choose a song you like, look up a tutorial, and go for it!
