Our Tenor Guitar is shorter and lighter than traditional tenor guitars, making it suitable for children and players with smaller hands and fingers, as well as for fingerpicking or strumming. This tenor guitar features a solid mahogany top with an earthy brown sunburst finish paired with mahogany back and sides for a timeless appearance and a warm, rich tone. The standard tuning is CGDA, but it holds alternate tunings and open tunings just as well. Each Tenor Guitar comes in a gig bag.
The Tenor Guitar as an instrument has an eclectic and storied past as a specialty 4-string guitar in the bluegrass and folk genres. Popular contemporary players like Warren Ellis and Neko Case have helped to keep this instrument in the public eye.

After several years of just playing ukuleles, I decided to make the journey into tenor guitars. It has been an enjoyable journey and this guitar is a big part of the enjoyment. It is a very comfortable size, it is amazingly easy to play, and the sound is good. That said, a tenor guitar is not just a big ukulele. The sound is different and you have to play if for what it is - a different type of instrument. I think it is worth the time invested. Having a new tool in your tool box is a good thing.

Though the body is smaller than others, the sound is resonant and larger than my previous tenor guitar. Well crafted in mahogany. But I would also say it would be nice to have a strap button at the neck.

First of all, I am a huge fan of Kala. I own several of their products. This Mahogany Tenor Guitar was such a disappointment. I own the Spruce version which is outstanding. This Tenor guitar had zero vibe. Very dull, no 'solid' mahogany tone. Two of the strings were oxidized . . . unacceptable! The finish was nothing special. The outer box was destroyed during shipping, so I had to reconstruct the outer box to ship back, even though I paid the extra $2.50 for 'return protection. Not sure what is happening at Kala but will be very cautious before I buy another instrument from them.

Looks good and sounds good. For me, this is a keeper. Wish the neck/fret board was a little wider, but not a deal breaker. If you don't mind a slimmer neck/fret board, I would highly recommend this instrument.

I don't have a review for the return insurance because there is no way you are getting my tenor guitar back! The guitar is beautiful and the sound is wonderful. It is also very comfortable to play.
