Kala recommends the MusicNomad Humilele Humidifier for humidity drops below 40%. The ideal safe zone for a ukulele is an environment with 45-55% humidity. Tonewood needs a certain amount of moisture to avoid complications that can occur from dry wood. Dry wood can warp, shrink and worse yet, crack your instrument! Wood dryness can occur due to air conditioning during the summer and with indoor heating during the winter. That's where the Humilele comes in! The Humilele rests securely on top of the strings to safely and evenly hydrate your Ukulele. Simply soak MusicNomad’s Humilele sponge in distilled water, replace the top, and position it between your ukulele strings. Very easy and low maintenance. Fits all sizes.

    Pricey but clever

I ordered three of these for my 3 ukuleles, concert, tenor, and baritone, after reading how important humidity is to their care. In the winter our humidity drops well below 40, which concerned me.

It is a clever invention and easy to use. I keep a small jar of distilled water in the room so it is ready when the foam sponge dries out. No way to know if it really works, only time will tell, but it makes me feel like they are protected, so I no longer worry about it.

I knocked it down one star because, really, ten dollars for this little plastic thing?

    Nice humidifier

I got two of these, one for a tenor and one for a baritone. They fit neatly between two strings, and I appreciate that there's a string notch that holds the humidifier in place once it's inserted — many other wedge-style instrument humidifiers rely on pressure from the case to stay in place. Good quality synthetic sponge means I don't have to re-wet it too often.

    Easy to use humidifier

This is an easy to use humidifier and because it fits between the strings you are unlikely to forget to use it and keep it moist.
