I'm a beginner and it is a great improvement over the child's ukulee in plastic that a friend had given me to see if I could learn to play. So the strings are better, the sound is better, much easier to play and the folks I purchased it from were informative and helpful when I called. Two thumbs up!!
My daughter asked for a Ukulele. Gave her an old cheap one & told her if she could learn 3 songs I would get her a good one. A few days later I bought this for her. It is just what title says. Best value for a uke, bar none. Daughter has more expensive ukes now & she can really play. She still likes to pick up this one & play though.

When I organized a uke group, we had people that would show up wanting to learn and would ask us what ukes we would recommend. Of the 3 that we recommended, Kala was the most popular. Listen to the video and you'll find a sweet, old time Hawaiian sound. These ukes are sturdy and hold up well. They are a uke that's easy to play - an important point for a beginner, as if an uncomfortable uke causes a player to give up early. A great place to start! I vote 5 stars!
I love the quality of this model. It takes a few weeks of playing and tuning but then they hold their tune very well.
