The bass plays remarkably well in spite of a very high action and no real way to lower the action. Flat wound string make the bass sound very much like a standup bass, round wound strings can have a lot of finger noise, my preference is flat wound. Playing through a markbass rig with a 500w vintage head.

My first bass guitar. I wanted something acoustic but not too large. I'm really having fun with this instrument. I pick it up every day. Nice solid build and great sound. I look forward to playing this through an amp. Buy this...you won't be disappointed.

So much fun! It’s addictive. Sounds huge when it’s plugged into an amp, but sounds really nice unplugged as well. I will be buying more Kala stuff for sure!

This is my fifth Ubass., bought on a whim. When I took it to my regular uke group jam, everyone commented on how great it sounded, and they are used to Ubass wonders. I was surprised to notice how comfortable I felt playing it. I don't know what special juju Kala put in this instrument, but it's helped me move up a level.
