The instrument is beautiful. The sound is deep and rich. I am still very much a beginner and the XL takes time to get used to because of the distance between frets. But I am very pleased and looking forward to many years of beautiful music. Thank you.

This All Solid Mahogany Tenor XL from Kala is another fantastic addition to their lineup. It has a warm, woody, and balanced tone with great sustain, perfect for everything from mellow fingerpicking to more dynamic strumming. The solid mahogany construction gives it a classic sound that really sits well in any mix.
The XL size gives you extra string spacing and projection, which I love for both comfort and tone. It's super playable and feels like a refined instrument meant for serious musicians. The flame maple binding adds a touch of elegance, and the slotted headstock gives it that pro-level vibe.
Like other XL models, you’ll need a baritone case—I use the archtop baritone case from Kala, and with some padding, it fits perfectly.
If you’re looking for another flavor in the Tenor XL range, this is a beautiful one to have in the collection. Highly recommend it!

I bought this Super Tenor awhile ago and shared a previous positive review. Last week, and just for fun, I strung it up w/ D'Addario Titanium Baritone strings. Tuned it DGBE w/o any problems. The new sound absolutely blew me away! Now this super Tenor absolutely BOOMS with rich vibes! The Baritone strings have completely changed the character of this awesome uke for the better! You gotta try this!:)

I was so impressed with Kala's Spruce/Ziricote Tenor XL that I couldn't resist getting this one too. The sound and size of the XL line continues to impress. This model seems slightly lighter in weight but with a slightly better balance. Both deliver clear, crisp, resonant tones. Really, if I were designing a ukulele from the ground up, this is pretty much where I'd end up. Solid wood – check. Longer neck – check. Expanded bout – check. D'Addario strings and a satin finish – check, check. The design choices all veer toward the conservative yet classy. This is a beautiful and refined instrument in every way. Tons of XL (extra love) for this XL line!
