Great Ukelele -- Glad I Bought It!

The solid Spruce Top produces great sound projection. I really love the tone produced. Well done Kala!

    Good sound

I don’t know much about ukulele’s, but there are lots of cheep ones out there and I’ve never been a fan of the sound. I liked the idea of the ukelele for a gift, and figured if a guitar would sound good so could a ukulele even though different doing some research on Wood tones, string, sound, differences, and the difference between soprano, concert, tenor, etc., I came to the conclusion that the Aquila strings with the spruce front but most likely give me a sound quality that would be fun to play. I was nervous because I had tested out some beautiful thousand dollars Martin’s in a music shop, and some inexpensive Kalas in an elementary school musical room, and there was such a huge difference and sound quality. I’m happy to say that this sounds really good and it finds a nice place between the quality of the school instruments and the higher and Martin’s. I would put this closer to the Martin end of the spectrum in the school end of the spectrum. There is still a difference, of this cost significantly less. For me this was worth paying a couple hundred because it’s more fun to play and doesn’t feel like it will get left on the shelf. My musical mother has been using it and showing me songs. I’m happy with my choice.

    good instrument in price range

Has a good tone - a little brighter than mahogany or cedar top, but adding a low G string adds depth. Good construction. I would like the finish to be a little "gloss"..... Fret tuning is good. Keep in mind, fret tuning can be affected by strings, finger pressure, etc.

But an excellent choice in this price range for a good sounding tenor ukulele.
