    Kala continues to impress!!

They may call this a "mini guitar" but it sounds very similar to a quality dreadnaught to me. Upon first touching it, I noticed how relatively rough and dry the surface texture felt, as if it had not been properly finished with polyurethane. The spruce top and neck were much smoother and I realized I didn't have much experience with an ebony wood instrument. I vaguely remember reading about the texture in some general research. It appears to be striped ebony for those curious about the wood source.

Now the sound is what really matters to me and I continue to be impressed at the quality sonics I'm hearing. It has a range that is similar to a full size mahogany body guitar and the volume is quite impressive, given it's size. I bought it as a practice guitar that I could keep near my desk to keep the callouses tough and to try out songs I hear on the internet. Now I'm considering using it for much more extensive use. The guitar brand new, stays in tune incredibly well and the tuning machines are very responsive to slight changes. I have no idea what ratio they are buy they feel solid, which is always a critical element I look for in a new guitar. The finish is very well done, no ragged frets, no string buzzing and it very easy to play. In short, it's more than I had hoped for in quality at this price point. It's much better than guitars that cost twice as much at another seller and that were returned. This one is a keeper unless something dramatic changes. It's…

    Very nice for the price

I have 49 years experience playing, teaching, gigging etc. I was looking for a parlor sized guitar without breaking the bank. I actually purchased Kala's parlor guitar days before this one. Another very nice guitar. Cedar top. Way different sound.

This Omini is beautiful. The ebony laminates are gorgeous. The spruce top is clean and rings crystal clear. The scale feels fine. I took the saddle down > 1mm for better action. A common thing. The tuners seem to hold fine. I would've given this guitar a 4.8 rating though because the fret ends needed a little work and it had plastic bridge pins but it sounds and feels great. The fretboard looks great. The binding is nearly perfect. It would make a great student guitar if you're looking for something with more quality than the typical beginner models. The woods on these guitars just sound and feel awesome.

I think it’s a great mini guitar nicely put together. Love the wood combo. Has nice sound. I don’t care for the strings the wound d string seems defective at the sound hole where I strum not quite sure what I am looking at maybe tarnished or? Overall great mini addition to the Fam.
