Aquila® Thunderbrown U•BASS® Strings

Model: AQ-TB-4

$39

The newest revolutionary U•BASS® string design from Aquila, the Aquila® Thunderbrown offers players a brand new playing experience and tone, distinct from other pure elastomer strings:

  • The strings ensure a perfect glide of the fingers of the left hand
  • The diameter is reduced to levels comparable to normal coated acoustic bass strings
  • They are made for the first time starting from bio-elastomers of vegetable origin and not from petroleum derivatives
  • The metal added in micronized form is minimal in the first string and maximum in the fourth: this translates into a perfect acoustic and timbral homogeneity of the frame
  • They do not show any 'sausaging effect' over time (strings pulled hard with the hands reduce their diameter in a stable form)
  • The acoustic power is increased, adding to the feasibility of play on a U•BASS® without amplification
  • String tension has been increased compared to that of Aquila® Thundergut, Thunderblack and Thundered.

Perfect for Ashbory short scale bass

I recently purchased a 1990s Ashbory bass, the first designed short scale bass, but has huge antique silicon strings and can be a challenge to play. I did some research and decided to try these Thunderbrowns, and what a huge improvement in sound quality, playability and intonation. They are a bit expensive so I’ll have to see about their durability, but so far it’s a well earned 5-stars. I might try the Thunderblack and Nygut at some point, but it’s hard to imagine they will surpass these.

    Thunder browns are worth it!

Yes they live up to the hype! Took several days of relaxing and stretching but really are smooth to lay, much better warmer upright sound ! Thank you Aquila !

    Love the Thundering Thunderbrowns!

I bought the Thunderbrowns after the Silver Rumblers proved to be a great disappointment to me, since I wanted to upgrade from the Thunderblacks. (The Thunderblacks that originally came with my U-Bass sounded a lot better and louder than the Silver Rumblers in my case, but I digress.) I must say the the Thunderbrowns are indeed a worth upgrade from the Thunderblacks. They soundfantastic on my Nomad Acoustic-Electric U-Bass. I am thrilled. There is an initial breaking-in period where the feel of the strings are concerned, as the -Browns have more texture than the -Blacks. But I've been playing with them for an hour after putting them on, and I'm already feeling a difference with use. Excellent strings!
