I remember sitting on my bed for hours learning new songs on the ukulele after I got it for Christmas two years ago. My first ever ukulele was a Kala soprano ukulele! My Mom was ecstatic to see how much I loved playing and learning the ukulele. The ukulele is such a beautiful instrument and so fun to play.
Music has been a huge part of my life. I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old. The ukulele and piano allow me to express myself in a way words cannot. Playing the ukulele and singing helped me navigate a low period of my life. My dad told me to surround myself with things that made me happy and that I loved. So, I sang, played the ukulele and piano, and painted. Music has really helped me grow as a person and become who I am today. Music will always be there for you.
I started on YouTube for fun and used it as a way to share my music. Then, I started doing ukulele tutorials and everyone thought it was helpful and easy to understand. Reading the comments saying I helped them learn a new song on the ukulele made me smile. I absolutely love knowing that I am helping people learn and understand, so that they can play a song and just have fun. I am honored to be a Kala Ambassador!
Ukulele Philosophy
My dad always tells me, "Don't play notes: turn it into music." This statement is so true. Yes, music is just a composition of notes; however, what truly makes it music is the expression and passion you put into it.
Tip for Beginners
My tip for beginners is practice, practice, practice! Just start off slow and enjoy the process. The more you play the ukulele, the more it will naturally turn into muscle memory. Just have fun with the ukulele!
