Scout Fretless Bass with Kala Flatwound U•BASS® 4-String Set by Gallistrings

This was my second attempt at importing a Scout; the previous attempt was stolen from the NZ Post facility at Portland Oregon.

It was worth waiting for, especially with the Kala Flatwound strings. The sound is overwhelming and to play it is just genius.

Kala, thank you so much; absolutely amazing to play on this instrument!

    Great sound

I already had a Uke bass fretted with wound metal strings. This provides an alternative being fretless and with a cutaway. I have played now in our group for 2 weeks and love the tone and construction. I was unsure of the rubber strings but they do have a nice sound. One small issue is that if the string is plucked hard the lower ones tend to buzz a bit. I found adjusting the volume on the output or on the amp provides required volume without hard plucking and have adjusted my style accordingly. I am very happy with the product, now I just have to get more comfortable with notes above the fifth fret marking.

    Scout Fretless

I'm a double bass player who blew out his left shoulder. It seemed to me that a Kala fretless with flat wound strings would be a good substitute for my 7/8 carved bass while I heal. I have not been disappointed. It's been great -- easy to play and sounds great. I've used it on gigs and the audience can't believe it. The Kala staffers I spoke to on the phone were extremely helpful in facilitating this special order and getting it out to me before I missesd a single gig. Thank you Kala big time.
