The Solid Cedar Top with Acacia back and sides in a shiny, gloss finish, trimmed out in Rosewood binding is a sleek combination. We added an Abalone rosette, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and Graphtech Ratio Black Tuners.
Cedar has a soft, lush tone that lends well to finger style playing. It has a natural, loud projection and is often recommended as the best ukulele for playing on stage. Purchased KA-SCAC-SLNG from Kala. Ukulele is well constructed. The cedar top(with laminated acasia side and bottom) and Aquila super nylgut nylon strings produce a rich sound. Kala does full setup. There were no sharp fret edges. Neck is satin and body is gloss. All in all this is a moderately priced ukulele that is pretty and sounds good. Love the wood. I'm used to tenors, so I'm getting used to the size. The smaller span is unique. I think I'll replace the G string to a the lower G.
