      Just what I needed

Great addition to my other Kala ukes. Now able to practice without disturbing others. Nice sound even when played through my bass amp that I use with my solid body U bass and having tons of fun with a Big Muff pedal.

      Great looking, great playing uke!

I've had many ukes over the years and this one just became my favorite! Great playability... Easy and fun to play... You can get a variety of sounds from this uke and as far as looks are concerned it is a real showstopper. So happy I made this purchase!

      Solid Maple Tenor Electric Ukulele

Overall it’s a great ukulele when combined with a good amp (I have the Boss Katana 100). The connections inside the jack wiggled loose after about a month of playing but were easily fixed by my luthier. That part could have been built better so that’s why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise I’m enjoying the electric guitar sound from an easy to play ukulele.

      Smooth

Very easy to play with good action and a nice mellow tone. Looks great and is well made. It didn't come with a strap pin, but this was easy to add.

      My Finnish Blonde

A friend of mine bought what I call "The Alice Cooper" version of this uke. I tried it twice and told her I thought she a a very fine instrument in every sense. I wasn't thinking of the very subjective appearance at all but rather the sounds it was able to create, its playability, the nice improvement Kala seems to be making from disc batteries to 9v, the fit and finish of the wood, the tuners, the frets and it just felt like a high quality instrument.

But there was something about the sound that I remember most and with a little bit of of internet digging, it seems this line used B Band U1 pickups, which were something of a revolution coming from an under the radar high tech manufacturer in Finland, B Band Ltd. or something like that. It wasn't clear if this company was sold recently but although I could not verify it, I'm guessing this batch of ukes still uses these pickups. It was the most acoustic sounding, high quality sound I had heard from a solid body instrument!

I had to have one so I got the "Blonde", the maple finish version and the sound was again fantastic, even after I tuned it down to a baritone tuning to accomodate my standard guitar fingers and brain. The quality of the sound is better than my real baritone uke, which is strictly acoustic. What I was hearing was not quite a uke, not a guitar but a unique blend that's quite distintive and pleasant.

I'm saving up for the mahogany version tenor so that I can learn to play actual uke chords rather…
