First of all, I was impressed with the prompt and courteous Kala customer service. There was an issue with the first uke they sent me. I sent them an email w/photos and they sent me a return shipping label. Once they received it they sent a replacement.
I love it. I love the feel and look of the gloss finish, even though it fingerprints quickly and the back could get light scratches from my clothing. I wipe it off after each use and will be careful not to wear buttons or zippers that could scratch. The gloss makes it feel like a more substantial instrument, and reminds me of the vintage Yamaha guitar I first tried learning to play, though this is a much more manageable size! I also like the detail around the sound hole. I wasn’t sure what it looked like on the website, so I attached a pic to this review.
Keep in mind, I am a novice regarding any instruments. For that reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars, since I’m not qualified to critique an instrument, though I am a detail girl.
I like the sound of the baritone. I also have a concert and tenor, so I’m back to learning the different chords for the different baritone tuning. Each day I tune it again, and it isn’t that far off. I know it takes awhile for the strings to stretch. I haven’t noticed any buzzing strings. I find it easier to make clear sounding chords with this size uke. I bought a strap, too, which helps hold the uke steady when changing chords.

This was better than expected. The tone is everything I hoped for. It came well tuned and pristine. An absolute gem of an instrument. High quality for sure!
Best part, I can now use it to play guitar music :) which is great for flexibility and diversity of songs.
