These high-tension U•BASS® strings offer a timbre and maneuverability akin to the double bass. Smooth to the touch, the chrome flatwound tape allows your fingers to glide around the fretboard and helps protect the neck from wear and tear—perfect for any acoustic fretted or fretless U•BASS®:

*Modifications to the nut slots and string holes by an experienced instrument technician may be required. As a streamlined alternative to modifications to the existing nut, the Flat Wound U•BASS® Nut by TUSQ® is available for purchase, to be installed by an experienced instrument technician only. Due to the change to a higher tension as well, a truss rod adjustment is also recommended.

I've tried them all, these are comfortable, durable and fit perfectly on my bass. They are costly, but should last a very long time.

I have a Kala U-Bass. I bought these strings thinking they would be a good addition. The low E string is to too wide for the nut therefore the action is off. At this expensive price point you would think Kaka would recommend strings that matched the guitar.

I recently purchased a Kalabrand Journeyman U-Bass and to be honest I was a little disappointed with the acoustic sound and the playability. I bought the flat wound strings to see if they might improve my opinion of this beautiful instrument. I was absolutely delighted with the transformation. It plays so smoothly now (like butter) and the action is sooo much better. The overall sound is fantastic 👍🏼👍🏼

Original U Bass (no EQ/tuner) with polyurethane “rubber” strings upgraded to Gallistrings Flatwounds. Also nut replaced with TUSQ Flatwound compatible nut.
Fast delivery to Australia from Kala and Wow what a difference. Sound and feel a big improvement. Definitely using it at gigs as some venues too small to use my double bass.

I love these flatwound strings now on my U-Bass. They have a great smooth feel and reduce the fingering noise and fret buzz common with acoustic basses. And of course they are great for sliding, even with the fretted bass.
