I got this for my travel uke,so I wasn't concerned with a blem. It turned out to be the smallest tool mark on the back of the headstock. I had to look it over to find it. I think mahogany is a great tone wood,especially in tenor or baritones. This has a great sound and looks beautiful in this finish.

What a great purchase! The "BLEM" was barely noticeable; more important, the instrument was extremely well priced, beautifully constructed and mellifluous. The dog-hair design gives the instrument an elegantly weathered appearance, like something Woody Guthrie or Willie Nelson might play. The solid mahogany construction promotes resonance and a full-bodied sound. I am very happy with this purchase and with Kala's always excellent customer service.
