The Solid Acacia line bears curling that is similar to its close relative Koa. The Acacia’s resemblance to its cousin is apparent in its beautiful, varied grain pattern. The all solid wood allows the sound to improve as it is broken in.

Amazing tone. Great sustain. Best value!

This Kala Solid Acacia Tenor was an overdue move up from a $100 soprano. I am pleased in every way. The craftsmanship is perfect, defect free. Each string is playable even at the highest frets. The sustain is much greater than I expected for the price. Gosh, the uke even smells great! I added a tweed archtop hard case to my order to protect this wonderful instrument. Zero buyer's remorse. I'm already looking at buying a concert uke with EQ, and add a Low G for fingerstyle playing at open mic nights down the way.

    Great Ukulele

I' ve been playing ukulele since I was 12 years old, back in the 60s, and been a full time, mostly employed musician since 1980. I've owned several ukuleles, and played many others. This one is the best I've ever played, the craftsmanship is flawless, the playing action is dead one, and the sound is amazing. Also, just in the short time I've had it (been playing the heck out of it), I can hear it sounding even better.

    I've attached a video.

    Amazing!

This is a fantastic ukulele! I have only had it for almost a year now but the sound is incredible in comparison to other cheaply built ukuleles I had before. From the minute I picked it up I could tell how much better it sounded than my previous ukulele! Not to mention how pretty it is. If you are on the fence but it now!

    Lovely Sound, Beautiful Look

Looked around my local ukulele store in Richmond, VA as I was curious to try out the tenor size. I played around with several tenors but just kept coming back to this one and ended up leaving with it. For me, this price tag ($400+ after tax) was a big deal, but I just loved the sound so much that I was willing to commit to the purchase. I have had it now for ~6 months and I just love the sound of this uke.

While with the purchase of this ukulele I now own one each of soprano, concert and tenor sizes, this has become my go-to. While the size is more comfortable for me at the fret board, the sound of the solid acacia really makes this stand out for me: a really warm sound that I just love. And 6 months after purchase I am so glad I did spend the extra in my budget for this one. We all have different budgets and this is certainly the high end of my range for what I am willing to pay. The sound that I get out of this really makes me feel that I got a lot of bang for the buck with this model.

I am a huge fan of the dark wood and this acacia is stunning. The fret markers are also a beautiful feature as the rings have what you could call a wave or a vine theme that provides a nicer detail that makes them 'pop' more than a standard dot fret marker. I added the brown tapa-themed ukulele strap that, to me, just complements this wood so much.

Bottom line: I absolutely love to play this ukulele! If you're like me and the appearance of this uke draws your attention to it,…

It's a joy to play and hear.

I recently purchased the solid mahogany tenor model. I played it for a minute or two before my wife asked, "can I try it?" She immediately claimed it as hers. In order to get my mahogany uke back, I bought my wife the solid acacia tenor model. It worked. Workmanship of this instrument is outstanding. Intonation is spot-on and it's very playable. With solid acacia wood body and Aquila Nylgut strings its timbre mellow and sweet. Visually, the ornate inlays on the fretboard, the slotted headstock, the bindings, purfling, and rosette, and the grain of the wood, make the acacia model a cut above. Tuninig machines are smooth and precise.
