At just 25, dodie has already done a lot of living. Some of that has played out online as she made a name for herself as a singer and writer, amassing millions of fans with her disarmingly honest videos and affecting, intimate singing style. She currently sits at 2.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, has scored two top-ten EP's headline and sold our London's Roadhouse, and the Hollywood Palladium and New York's Terminal 5, and become an ambassador for depersonalisation charity Unreal.
Born in Essex, England, dodie got her start online as a musician in 2011 and now maintains a massive YouTube community with a combined 2.8 million subscribers and over 430 million views, made up of a range of intimate demos, life musings, and fully produced songs and sessions. Her distinct and identifiable soft vocals, lush harmonies and sparse production style, often built from the ukulele, has inspired a wave of new singer-songwriters. In addition to her own work, dodie has collaborated with the likes of Jacob Collier, Julia Nunes, Orla Gartland, Emma Blackery, and other creative contemporaries.
Dodie has released three independent EPs—Intertwined (2016), You (2017), and Human (2019)—all of which charted within the top 40 of the official UK Albums Chart. Her debut studio album Build a Problem is due for release on March 5, 2021.
dodie's Kala ukuleles have been with her for every step of her musical journey, including her first international tour. In 2018, our team of Kala Elite USA builders made her a custom baritone ukulele that has remained one of her most frequently used writing and recording partners.
